You're a SuperTaster!
Do you close your eyes when you bite into your favorite dessert? Do you taste spices in foods that no one else seems to notice? Are you more sensitive to certain tastes than most people you know? If so, chances are... you're a SuperTaster! Most of us have five functioning senses that receive input from the outside world. However, these senses aren’t weighted equally. We don’t necessarily pay the same amount of attention to what we see as what we smell or taste. Everyone is different. Many of us have one sense, a SuperSense, that dominates our perceptual field. Here's the fun part...Once you know your SuperSense, you can use it to your advantage. You can choose a self-care strategy that’s particularly powerful for you because it’s based on your SuperSense. SuperSense strategies can both calm your nervous system and boost your energy levels when needed. Here’s how it works: When you want to reduce your feelings of frustration or overwhelm, you’re going to minimize the input to your SuperSense. When you want to improve your mood and boost your energy level, you’re going to selectively amplify the input to your SuperSense. When you want a boost, do this:Have your favorite teas or coffee creamers on hand.Every week, plan to make, order in or go out for a particularly delicious meal.Keep your go-to flavor (garlic, Himalayan salt, turmeric, etc.) in the kitchen to add an extra kick to meals and snacks. When you’re flustered, do this:Keep packets of your favorite flavor gum or mints nearby at all times.Brush your teeth or use mouthwash throughout your day, particularly after meals and snacks.Drink lots of water.“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."― Maya Angelou
