The exact benchmark across our portfolio of lead-generation quizzes is 40.1%.

We have recalculated this benchmark over many different time periods, and it has remained crazy consistent ever since 2014, when we first started measuring. Interact quizzes have now generated more than 100 million leads, so we have watched this number hold through a lot of growth and a lot of change.

The medium through which people drive traffic has changed dramatically. In the earlier years of Interact, much more quiz traffic came from Google search. To me, that tells us something important about the format itself.

Quizzes have a certain appeal that is universal. Social media changed how people discover businesses, podcasts changed how people build trust, and AI is changing how people find answers, but people still want to answer a few questions and learn something useful about themselves.

The format has not been disrupted by any of the major internet trends of the last 13 years. That lifetime number provides context for the scale of the platform, while the percentages in this report are the repeated portfolio benchmarks.

A start is someone beginning the quiz. A finish is a starter answering all of the questions and reaching the end. A lead is a quiz starter who submits their contact information through the quiz. Both start-to-finish and start-to-lead rates use quiz starts as the denominator.

The industry figures group quizzes by their primary business use case. These are observational platform benchmarks, not the results of a controlled experiment, so they should be used as planning and diagnostic references rather than predictions for an individual business.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good quiz lead conversion rate?

Across the Interact portfolio, the average start-to-lead conversion rate is 40.1%. That is a useful reference point, but a good rate is ultimately one that generates enough qualified leads to support your business.

What is a good quiz completion rate?

The average start-to-finish conversion rate across Interact quizzes is 65%. If your rate is significantly lower, review the relevance and length of the questions and whether the experience delivers on the promise made in the title.

Why has the quiz conversion benchmark stayed so consistent?

The main traffic sources have changed, but the basic appeal of a quiz has not. People still want personalized answers that help them understand themselves, choose a path, or decide what to do next.

Can I run cold ads to a quiz?

Paid ads can amplify a quiz when you have already validated the audience, message, and offer. What has not worked reliably in our experience is starting with no audience, no established demand, and no proven message, then expecting a quiz and cold ads to manufacture a sustainable lead-generation system.

Does the traffic source affect conversion?

Traffic quality and audience intent can affect an individual quiz significantly. At the portfolio level, however, the average has remained around 40% even as traffic has shifted from Google toward social media, podcasts, YouTube, and AI traffic.

What should I fix first if my quiz is not converting?

Start with traffic and the quiz title. Make sure qualified people are consistently reaching the quiz, then make sure the title addresses the exact question that caused them to click.

Turn the attention you already have into leads

If people are already finding you through your website, social content, podcast, YouTube channel, search, AI referrals, or email list, a quiz can give that attention a personalized next step.

The strongest quizzes do not create interest from nothing. They take a question your audience is already asking and turn your best answer into an experience they can use at any time.

Create your quiz with Interact and give your existing audience a clear reason to join your email list.

Interact’s average quiz start-to-lead conversion rate has stayed around 40% since 2014, even as traffic sources have shifted from Google search toward social media, podcasts, YouTube, and AI.
