Okay, picture this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People get to your website, and they’re presented with a question that is exactly what is already on their mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a button there that says, get the answer to this question.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, they’re going to get a pretty high click-through rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is exactly the kind of question that has made quizzes work so well on websites for the last 15 years, and it continues to convert today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are a couple of recent examples I’ve seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One is from Rachel G. Scott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel G. Scott has an assessment that pops up on her website <\/a>that helps you figure out how to break through to the next level on your spiritual journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a question that is on the mind of people in her audience already, because her content is all about spiritual growth, and she knows that everybody has this feeling, this thought in the back of their minds that, why am I not breaking through to the next level?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that’s something people think about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And she knows that prompting people with that exact question is what drives conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another example is from The Car Mom. Same setup: front page of the website, and there is a quiz that says, which car is right for your family?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Car Mom’s content is all about different family cars and functionality for families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, of course, the question that’s always been on the mind of the audience is, which one is my family?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another example is from Erin, which is a bigger quiz that is on the front page of her website, because the question in her audience’s mind is, which career is actually right for me?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the reason why this is so powerful, and the whole point of this, by the way, is email collection: gathering emails to add to your email list, and segmenting them based on which outcome they get on your quiz or assessment, so that your follow-ups from there are personalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the reason why it’s so powerful is because people walk around the internet always thinking about how a piece of content applies to them on an individual level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that’s exactly what can be extremely powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But one thing that has always come through is, no matter how amazing your content is, people always have this question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the question is, well, what about me?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does this apply to me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes it’s a very direct question. Like, if you’re talking about living in a highly sensitive body<\/a>, which is a quiz that Michelle Shapiro has on her website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe your content is literally about living in a highly sensitive body, and then the assessment quiz you have is, are you living in a highly sensitive body?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s an example where it’s very direct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other times, like with Erin, it’s a little less direct. You’re giving career advice, but the question that people have is, well, which career is right for me?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it’s not exactly direct. It’s one level abstracted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you can understand what question people have that they want answered for themselves as they engage with your content, on whatever platform, whether it’s podcast, social media, directly on your website, or YouTube, then you have a very powerful opportunity to move them over to your email list from whatever platform they’re on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Say they’re on a podcast, on YouTube, on social media: an email list is a supplementary channel. It’s also a very consistent one. People don’t always open their social media app every day. People don’t always listen to the podcast every day. People don’t always read your latest YouTube video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People open their email many, many times a day. And it’s a direct channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So moving people over through a quiz that answers the question your audience has as they engage with your content is a very powerful way to grow that email list, build and deepen those relationships, and drive incremental revenue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

People walk around applying everything they see to themselves. No matter how good your content is, there is a question underneath it: what about me, specifically?
