Svadasthana (Sacral Chakra)
Element: WaterColor: Orange
The sacral chakra holds the energy of your creativity. Creativity comes in many different forms, including thinking creatively and finding new, innovative approaches for any undertaking. This chakra also governs self-worth, desire, sexuality and sensuality. Physically, the sacral chakra is centered just below your navel, in your lower abdomen, and it includes your reproductive organs.
Because the element associated with this chakra is water, hydration is key to keeping movement at an optimal level in your body. Associated with the hips, sacrum, lower back, genitals, womb, bladder, and kidneys, this chakra is involved with sensuality, sexuality, emotions, intimacy, and desire. All watery things about us have to do with this chakra: circulation, urination, menstruation, orgasm, tears.
Power Tip
Dancing is one of the best—and easiest—ways to open your sacral chakra. So close the door, turn on your favorite music, and move. In life, it’s all too easy to become emotionally closed off or overly dependent on the people around us. Learning to trust our intuition, yet not be ruled by our emotions, is something that—like many worthwhile things—takes practice, learn to let go.
Yoga Pose
Yoga is really useful in releasing chakra's. One pose to try: Cow Face (Gomukhasana) — This seated and twist position stretches your chest, arms, shoulders, legs, and core to stimulate and balance energy flow through the second energy centre. As with all yoga respect your body in the moment.
