The city is full of opportunity. Where do you find your calling? Amid the bright lights and glamour of the Uppercity echelons, or do you prefer keeping a low-profile, and fraternizing with the shadows of the Undercity?
Perhaps you could be mistaken for a common thug, but you didn't get into this line of work to gain approval. The shadow of your past might have burned out your concern for society. But hey, the pay is good and the jobs keep coming. But maybe, just maybe, you're in it for the thrill.
There are many who have died from the dangers outside the cities. But you never let that bother you. While you love the thrill of adventure, exploration is a costly trade. You are more than happy to share your knowledge of the streets to others, for a price. It keeps the foolhardy from getting hurt, and you get to fund your expeditions and survive another night. Fair trade I think.
The corporate oligarchs may think they hold true power, but you know better. Preferring to observe operations in the background, you pick your battles with extreme caution. Many have heard of you, but few know your real name. From the shadows of the Undercity, information flows like wine. And you have the ability to divert the streams, or choke it out until the beds run dry.
Whether you gained your status through hard work or nepotism, you hold the reigns for the city's fortune. Consequence is a foreign concept to you, any wounds you may tear into society are easily salved by the scent of money. Be careful, ivory towers have a tendency to crumble at the foundation.
Scientific progress is the backbone of Arcadia. Whether you use your advances for the good of the company, or the betterment of society, people have you to thank for your efforts. But be mindful of your practice. Sacrifices must be made for the sake of science, but who will be the ones under the microscope?
Hated by many, trusted by some, you are the authority hired by one of the many corporations that pull the strings in Arcadia. Do you serve the people and keep by the moral code? Or can you be bought and sold to the highest bidder? Regardless your primary concern is your next meal and keeping whatever family you have provided for. Is that really a bad thing? How far are you willing to go down that slippery slope?
It's a straightforward job, at least if you let it. Your knowledge of numbers and social networking are your strengths. You may bring delights to the people of under, or even work your way up to soliciting to the upper crust. You can freely move about in both cities with little trouble from the authorities, but a few prepared bribes and promises can get you a bit further.
Whether you use your body or your voice, you never fail to enchant a crowd. It's not always a glamorous life, in fact it can be quite intensive travelling from gig to gig and fraternizing with every walk of life. From everyday citizens, shady thugs, or corporate warlords, you've seen and heard it all. But it's not all that bad, the free drinks help too.
The arts are greatly underappreciated in this world, but you still have hope that your skills will get you noticed. You aren't interested in anything else but improving your craft, whether your tools are visual, culinary, or performative arts. You are the glimmer of light in this otherwise bleak city. Who knows, perhaps a rich proprietor will catch an eye on your labor and provide you with a cozy life to express yourself freely.
You prefer earning your coin in the comfort of your home. The internet is your weapon and window to the world, there is nothing your computer skills could not get through. Establishing your relationships with a few prominent mercenaries, you get to watch over the action without leaving yourself at risk. Quite comfy really.
