You're a natural when it comes to working with people. Is it your charm or devilishly good looks? Well of course, but it's also your skill set!
You are a whiz at doing something people need, and maybe you don't even know what that is yet! But my friend, you were born with a heart of service and simply light up at the thought of getting paid to be you.
Your skill could be photography, graphic design, video, illustration, coaching, virtual assistance, copywriting, or something else entirely unique to you.
Serviced-based superstar, if you've been spinning your wheels doing #allthethings and nothing has been working, it's time to drop the internet marketing tactics and get back to basics.
1:1 service-based businesses thrive on relationships and referrals, which you won't find as easily in the automated world of internet marketing.
Utilize word of mouth referrals by reaching out to friends and family to see who they know. Overdeliver on every project to give clients the best possible experience. Collect testimonials to share. Make it easy for people to work with you!
Spread your message with confidence at in-person meetups, events, or coffee dates. Collab with locals, or in other words, simply get out there. You've got this!
For marketing purposes, use your favorite visual social media channels to display your portfolio and body of work so others know what you do! Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook Pages are great for this.
Grow your relationships and that service-based business of yours will start to bloom like wildflowers.
Ohhh lawdy, there's a shop owner over here! Do you gush over the latest booth at the farmer's market? The latest online store that you can't stop raving about? Are you big into branding and creating (or experiencing) an amazing customer experience?
You may just have the heart of a product-based business owner. Let's be real, if you ever had the thought of "Hey, I should start a boutique/coffee shop/winery/bookstore/cat clothing store someday!" then guess what, today is that special day, friend.
And hey, this isn't just for physical product lovin' bosses, either. Digital makers, this one's for you, too. If your heart does a dance at the idea of selling your digital creations on an artistic storefront like Creative Market, then it's time to get to crafting.
Get your products on places where they can be found by those looking for it, such as a platform with an internal search (Etsy, Creative Market, etc.) or acquire a website and utilize a social presence to showcase your amazing work to the world.
Make sure that product photography is on point! Shabby photos ain’t allowed, kay?
You may think social media is fleeting for product based businesses, but there's one visual platform you may not have thought of to showcase your products - and that's Pinterest. It only takes one amazing pin to breathe life (and oodles of traffic) into your business.
And of course, keep your customers engaged with all of your latest releases by offering coupon codes or other incentives in exchange for their email address to grow that email list, baby! (Boom!)
Pretty soon, that shop of yours will be running like a well-oiled machine.
You are a creative through and through. With ideas oozing out of your vibrant mind every minute, sometimes it can feel hard to keep up and this can even present itself as a flurry of ideas that barely make it onto your notes app before they get lost in space.
Time to channel that creative energy! If you're overflowin' with ideas on the reg, then time to lend some structure to that creativity so it can flow freely (and well.) If structure freaks you out, just remember that the Mona Lisa, one of the most revered paintings of all time, is painted on a canvas that's less than 3ft tall and 2ft wide!
Your creativity needs a canvas, and that's up to you to decide which canvas is calling out your name. Whether it's a blog, a YouTube channel, or a stellar curated Instagram feed, find the creative outlet that resonates with you.
Hone in on one niche, one section of expertise that lights you up like a sparkler. The narrower your niche and the smaller your ideal audience becomes (as in like, just one metaphorical person) the better. In this way, your messaging will become magnetic and you’ll never run out of things to say.
If blogging is your route of choice, be sure to leverage Pinterest and let those timeless blog posts live on and find their audience for months (and even years!) to come. If YouTube is your jam, choose great SEO keywords and search terms for your videos that allow your videos to surface more easily on Google. And lastly, be sure to build an email list to share your latest content with subscribers!
Take one step at a time, creative, and just like the Mona Lisa, the rest will be history.
Your friends and family are constantly asking you how to do XYZ. They know you're the go-to person for knowledge. You're patient, kind, and a great listener, but an even better speaker! (Although sometimes you may not like to admit that because helloooo public speaking = instant sweaty palms.)
But here's the thing, once you find your flow you thrive off of teaching, speaking, and sharing your knowledge with others.
Education is your jam. You may have even played "school" with your teddy bears as a kid and even told everyone you'd be a school teacher growing up. Maybe teaching in the school system isn't your thing, but you still crave to teach in another sense, a way that's more "you." One where you get to be the boss, call the shots, and be in charge of your schedule.
You love sharing your expertise in your unique field so much that you know exactly how you'd create an entire curriculum around it. The thought of launching an online course, group program, or retreat has flooded your dreams like crazy this past year.
It might feel scary to think about getting out there, or daunting to think about building out your content (maybe you hate the way your voice sounds on recordings, #relatable...)
But think of how so many people will benefit in learning something valuable by you just going for it. It's time to launch your dream!
Have a content strategy in place and build a home platform where you can market your mission. This could simply be a Facebook group, Instagram page, website, or YouTube channel. Show up regularly with free content that showcases what you do best - teach.
Collect subscribers with free-opt in's like challenges, email courses, or mini courses, and attract a tribe who simply loves to devour everything you create.
Begin to build out your program or course curriculum based on the needs of your audience and then build hype around it by introducing it to your email list, on webinars, Facebook lives, Instagram lives, and more! Choose a course software you vibe with like Udemy, Teachable, or Thinkific and get your program out and into the world.
Still feeling scared? Good! Because as they say, great things never come from comfort zones.
