  Divide and conquer. You could organise a covert military op. You know how to squeeze every millisecond out of the shop. You feel exhausted and your adrenalin is pumping but it was worth it.

  This is torture. Hit a department store. Everything is in the one store and hopefully there are less people and you can get in and out as quickly as humanly possible.

  Oh god, they’re going to have run out of everything. No one will like their presents. I’m going to have to go home and wrap all this stuff too, and then there’s all the food left to cook which I need more time to cook properly. This is a big fat disaster.

Tips: Allow yourself to feel naked and let go of the perceived safety blanket that worrying offers you. You may have to practice saying the word “notice” and slowly make the “tice” part soft enough so no one hears.Make sure you start to pay attention to that voice in your head that is self-diminishing and give it the flick. Life is stressful because it is full and busy. You feel a constant sense of what is next, but you find it difficult to settle in the moment. Some people may even call you a perfectionist. You like to push yourself to the max, whether that is physical, emotional or mental. Thresholds are made to be broken, your daily tasks and schedule defy what is humanly possible. Physical jobs, traveling, chasing after kids, long hours, shift workers, full life, work hard / play hard. Life is a sprint through your choice of marathon whether that is sport, work, parenthood, caring for people, partying, business etc. You are one of those people who thrives off stress. You probably think you work better under stress and here is where it gets confusing, because even though you may complain about the stress from time to time, you secretly love it. Tips: Create some space to check in with yourself: observe, feel and reflect. This will either confirm the track you are on or it will give you a pivot moment where you realise that there is a different way to do things. Make a list of everything you do and everything you are part of. Next to each thing on your list write down why you do it. If there are things that you are doing for the wrong reasons then approach them with a different intent or stop doing them all together. Make a list of the relationships that are important in your life. Pick one or two of them from your list and ask yourself what is the deeper purpose of this relationship?Pick one or two people you care deeply for and give yourself 5 minutes to stop and be present before you engage with them.
