Health & Wellness Aficionado
Your body is a temple and you strive everyday to treat it as such. Healthy eating, staying active, and/or being choosy with what products you use personally or in your home.
Your top 3 best-fit planet habits:
1. Active commuting (car pool, ride share, use the bus, bike, walk or a combination of some of these). Whether it's to work, social events, your place of worship, or errands, walking, biking, and using the bus more are the best fit for your health goals. Even if it takes ten or fifteen minutes longer, adding in extra steps or a short bike ride at the beginning or end of your day is the most time efficient way to build in more activity into your busy life. Plus you feel so much more energized to start your work day when you aren't sitting in traffic for your entire commute.
2. More plant-based eating. Eating less meat is one of the highest impact ways you can help prevent heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. There are other benefits like ... well the more polite way to say this is "digestion" but I want to be specific since I've heard from so many people this is a huge plus: better poops. And that's something you can appreciate every day once your system is being fueled by things that help keep everything moving and in harmony day to day. There, now we can move on to other things...
3. Environmental health in your home: this can be a wide ranging and looooong topic to get into, but if there were just one thing I would focus you on it is phthalates. They sneak into SO many products as "fragrance" or with a Recycling code #3, especially in "V" or "PVC" products. They are found in soaps, laundry detergent, toys, food containers. The good news is there are so many alternatives! Instead opt for products that explicitly say "phthalate-free", "fragrance-free" or have recycling codes #1, #2, #4, or #5.
Kryptonite: Sometimes the health and wellness benefits feel not-so-immediate and diffused within the world. This makes environmental issues feel less aligned with what drives you and more just extra stuff to take on as the 'right thing to do'. Contradicting info can especially weigh you down and make it harder to align healthy choices with environmental habits.
How to fully utilize your superpower: Take care to notice any immediate physical benefits from shifts. For example: Hanging laundry can be a good low-impact movement to strengthen your arms and provide some immediate delightful experience with the smell of 'fresh line-dried' clothes.
