Change seems to get a bad rap, and mean something to fear or something hard or seem impossible. You perhaps doubt you can make the changes you need to or you let self-doubt make change harder that it is. Rest assured, the only change I’m asking you to do is to get present to your conditioned habits of thinking that makes life seem harder than it is. When you learn to do things with new nourishing thoughts first, you will see that you can make changes in your life with more ease and grace. A life YOU love is waiting just outside your fears, just beyond your comfort zone.

  You Don't Know Your Next Step:                You don't have a plan and feel disorganized

  You have no need to travel anywhere. Journey within yourself. Enter a mine of rubies and bathe in the splendor of your own light. ~Rumi You're already a step ahead of the game - you know what you want, but you just don't know how to get there. Maybe it's fear, uncertainty, or you just don't know where to start, but the best thing you can do is just START! There is no right or wrong place to start. All steps towards what you want will lead you to the next step and then the next. Start anywhere or start with something that is causing you the most distress. Take a quiet moment and ask yourself, “Is what I'm doing bringing out the best in me?” Then follow up with, “Is it aligned with my hopes and dreams? What is the experience I'm creating?” This questioning helps you get present and helps you turn within to your own heart for the next step. The first steps might be a bit messy, but you'll learn as you go and might discover that the path you needed to achieve your dreams is right in front of you!

  You Don't Know What You Want:                  You do too much and feel disconnected from what matters most.

  Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. ~Aristotle You know you want something else in your life, but you have no idea what that is. It feels baffling, hard to figure out, perhaps even frustrating and stressful. It's time to do some soul searching. First, congratulate yourself for even acknowledging you want something else in your life! We often don't even ask as we are afraid of the answer we might get. Don't worry, begin to trust this inner journey. Second, soul searching for answers will not follow a linear path, it will feel more like a wild goose chase, because the answers will come from your heart not your head. Your heart meanders, takes it's time, and your mind is linear and doesn't like uncertainty. Your heart is holding the answers you seek. Ask yourself: What's important to you? Your life is full of clues. Your life's circumstances, blessings and burdens are all communicating with you and helping you to know YOU. Do you have any favorite hobbies or activities? Did you enjoy certain subjects in school? What kind of books make you feel alive and inspired? What are the commonalities in all the jobs, careers, volunteer work you've done? Take some time to really dive deep and explore any and all options that might sound interesting to you. Don't put pressure on yourself to find it right away. Simply follow what feels good, and soon you'll find what that something more is you are yearning to experience.

The road ahead may have its ups and downs, but don't forget to forgive yourself and understand that no path is perfect. Learning to trust your own motherhood path and find your own way requires presence, not perfection. While you may experience some setbacks or feelings of doubt, take some time to remember that getting lost on this motherhood journey is just as much a part of this process as the moments of self-discovery and certainty.
