Fire & Water
MentallyYou can be passionate and bold - you’re never afraid to lead a situation. You are someone who thrives off the order of things and likes life to feel like it’s moving in the right direction. A precise and sharp intellect drive your day to day but it’s your passion for what you love that keeps you going. This is the key to you shining and as fire is the element dominant in Pitta, it’s what burns to fuel you. When you’re out of balance it’s this same energy that acts as the impulse to feel aggravated and irritated - an ego can be unleashed if life doesn’t feel like it’s yours to lead. As a Pitta person you can easily tilt towards this so it’s important to act on it fast - try and factor in something fun to bring the lighter side of life into your days. It’s seriously important not to make everything so serious.
PhysicallyAre you always the one opening the windows in winter? Being warm is a key trait for a Pitta. It’s this internal fire in your energy that keeps your athletic frame moving. You’re strong in your physic which manifests itself throughout your body with your fuss-free skin and no-drama digestion when you’re feeling on top of everything in life. However, when that fire flickers and things don’t feel so fun the imbalance in your body brings up issues of inflammation, heartburn and nausea. During times like this, your digestion is sensitive so what and when you eat will become of importance to bringing a sense of calm back to your body.
Try tomorrow morningBegin your day with a journal entry. Take five minutes at the start of your day even if you’re still half asleep and write down what you’re grateful for, what you want to achieve in your day and most importantly how you want to feel. Watch it change throughout the week.
Space & Air
MentallyYou can be unpredictable or impulsive - your heart is fuelled by creating. You’re someone who thrives on calm and communication. The key to you shining is routine as air is the dominant element of Vata it’s really important for you to feel grounded. When you are stressed or anxious it’s easy for you to feel a million miles away from your reality and lose a sense of yourself. Vata people are prone to worry so it’s important to always plan time to wind down from your workweek on the weekend - try and keep a few hours of time allocated for some alone time amongst nature like a hike or even just a whole day free to do whatever you fancy, no plans are sometimes what we need to make time for most. Build boundaries and learn how to say no if you need to.
Cold hands and feet are a signal of Vata, so wrap up warm. Physically, Vata rules anything to do with movements like breathing, talking or anything that surrounds your nervous system. Your light frame means that you feel exposed to extreme energies and can tire easily when you wear yourself out. When you’re out of balance your body lets you know through intense aches, pains and insomnia - rest and sleep become paramount to building back balance.
Try tonightBefore you go to sleep, take five minutes away from your phone, switch off from Instagram, and think about your breathing by placing your hands on your stomach and focusing on the air passing through your lungs.
Earth & Water
MentallyYou can be patient and slow-paced in your thinking - you bring an easygoing atmosphere with you where you go. You are someone who thrives on thoughtfulness. You like there to be a balance of purpose to your choices and to find that stability you take your time to get there. You’re an anchor for others in your life, which makes sense as Kaphas element is earth. This is why you’re so beloved, but this can often lead to your own imbalance. If you’re not careful the weight of worry for others can topple over onto you. By learning how to properly express your emotions you’ll protect yourself better from symptoms like depressive states, excess sleep, and un-interest in activities that you’d normally enjoy. Keep your comfort zone calm but make sure you’re nurturing what you and you alone need first. PhysicallyIs seasonal-affect-disorder something you suffer from? Kaphas need sunlight to keep them strong. You have immense strength in your physicality which is what your build is centred on. This strength is what keeps your health relativity in sync until something like a shift in seasons or a few days of damp grey weather let it fall. During times like this, you’ll find you’re always the one to catch a cold, have tissues tucked away in every pocket and be craving carb-heavy comfort food. This imbalance is dampness in your dosha and can be alleviated with light, dry Kapha centred foods (think grains and dried fruit) and activities that get you out of your own thoughts.
Try tonightBreak your routine and try something new that you usually would never do. It’s important for Kaphas to not feel stagnant so whether it’s a new exercise class like Yin Yoga or a recipe you’d never normally cook - make a moment of accepting change into your life.
