"Ms. Independent Woman" Confidence
Your line from the song: “Depend on no one else to give you what you want.”
Being Ms Independent often comes in handy. You’ve leveraged your independence to survive the ups and downs that life throws your way. In fact, you pride yourself on your ability to “do it yourself.” You don’t need anyone to make you feel beautiful, accomplished, or like the strong woman that you are. Your independence is a personal strength, and your friends and family truly admire this about you–they also rely on you for it.
You’ve come to learn that being independent comes with its challenges. Yet, you don’t usually share this newly found revelation with others. You secretly feel alone at times–like it’s you against the world. Even though you don’t feel like you need anyone else, you would appreciate it if someone simply checked on you every once in a while.
You realize that being the “strong friend” can be a burden and a blessing at the same time. You are happy to help your loved ones, but after a while, it tends to drain your energy, time, and resources. You also rarely have the time to put your needs or dreams first. People typically call you first in case of emergencies, but who can you call? You’d love to lighten your load, but when you look around, you’re the strongest one in your circle. So, you find yourself hiding your pain as you grow weary day by day. Simply put, you just need a break!
Here's your confidence-affirming tip:
Being Ms. Independent can wear on a person when over-used. People who are independent can leverage this strength to endure the toughest of challenges; however, they must remember to refill, or otherwise, they’ll become depleted, frustrated, and down-right irritated by anyone and everyone in sight. As the saying goes, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Food for thought:When you consider your inner circle, is there anyone you can lean on as they lean on you? Whether your answer is yes or no, challenge yourself to re-evaluate how and if you do ask for help (and whether you ask without feeling guilty). No matter who it is, please understand that even their capacity to support others is limited. Since you’re the “strong friend,” your inner circle may not yet be well-positioned to guide you to your next destination. Who leads the leader?
This is where the support of a Coach comes into play. As a Confidence Coach, I (LeeAnn Sims), help women to reignite their confidence by restoring their sense of identity, value, and self-worth. Ms. Independent, I am here to tell you that your value goes well beyond what you can do for other people. Your identity is also not determined by whether or not you build success on your own.
There is no shame in accepting help. The true “shame” is when you suffer in silence and isolation. Allow someone outside of your circle like me to provide you with a fresh perspective on your situation–and without the pressure of having to be “strong.”
Here’s my gift to you:

About Coach LeeAnn Sims, MBA
From a size 24 to 6 and back again! LeeAnn Sims has been on THAT ride. She's been intimate with the varied perspectives and emotions related to weight loss and "yo-yo" diets. She's experienced the embarrassment of having to exit a roller coaster after the attendant couldn't buckle her into the seat. How's that for confidence?
What she has learned along this journey has become her mission's core message: Insecurities don't magically disappear with the pounds on the scale. After losing at WEIGHT loss–(losing and regaining 144lbs more than 10 yrs ago) LeeAnn has been on a WINNING streak–recently shedding 180lbs naturally by building the proper foundation of confidence.
She's located the fountain of true confidence and has authored a book, navigating other women to that destination. The Weight Loss DIVA: Discover the Discipline, Inspiration, Victory & Acceptance Within You! gives "real talk" insight into finding and embracing authentic confidence.
