n an environment that is struggling financially or undergoing significant changes, such as restructuring, redundancies, or changes in leadership, the organisation is characterised by instability and uncertainty. This type of environment can create high levels of anxiety and stress among employees, which can often result in poor behaviour, particularly towards black and marginalised professionals.
Systems Psychodynamic Perspective Social Defences: In these environments, social defences are more likely to be activated. Employees may resort to mechanisms like scapegoating, projection, and splitting, and acting out racial stereotypes and discrimination, to manage their anxiety and uncertainty. These defences can create a toxic work culture, where blame and mistrust are prevalent.
