Thanks for taking the Clutter Cure Quiz.
Awareness is the first important step toward change. Your top reason for creating clutter is Retail Therapy.
When you are having a bad day you turn towards shopping as therapy.
The rush and distraction you gain from shopping and finding that bargain are what you need at that time.
However, this high you were feeling wears off soon after you arrive home and you are left feeling empty or sad
Here's some strategies you can start using today:
1) Use the one in out rule: if you see something you feel like you absolutely need to have reminded yourself that something needs to leave your closet when you get home.
2) Ask yourself these questions before purchasing:
Do I love it?
Do I need it?
Can I mix and match this so it will have multiple uses?
Do I actually have the money to spend on this item?
3) Are you shopping to deal with your emotions rather than facing a situation you are not happy with? Find a hobby or activity that you can turn to when you are feeling the need to shop. Some ideas are: running, crafts, reading, walking/hiking, movies, grab a coffee with a friend.
