Mediterranean or Spanish Style
Mediterranean decorating incorporates elements from other cultures, including Spanish, Italian, French, Moroccan, Turkish, and Grecian.
Italian implies the combination of warm tinctures of ground, wood, and stone as well as the use of hammered elements within the furniture and decor at high numbers. Greek type is characterized by snow-white basic color, supplemented by radiant tinctures of blue with inclusions of yellow and terra-cotta. Furniture items are made of roughly tooled, “faded” wood. With influences from the surrounding Mediterranean region, Spanish interior design features a coastline-inspired color palette of blues, greens, whites, and browns. The elements of stone and ceramics are prevalent in Spanish design along with pottery, wrought iron pieces, candle holders, and carved wooden panels.
