Fixed Mindset
Hey, Look Like You May Have a Fixed Mindset!
It's possible your thoughts on the subject have been influenced by decades old research. As a society, we used to believe that intelligence was very much fixed and that there was little point trying to 'become something that you're not'. This is where sayings like "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" come from.
Talent was also believed to be something you were "born with" - we've all heard stories about people who are gifted from a young age - it turns out these "gifted" folks most likely had many opportunities to practice early on and develop their skills.
Recent research is helping us understand that the brain can be rewired at any age. There are studies on large numbers of subjects that show that mindset and rehearsal have a powerful impact on achievement.
We can, in fact, become more than we were—no matter our age or initial ability levels. Whatever your starting point - you can get better, smarter, faster, stronger.
