A score in this range indicates that you are seen as quite insightful. You are generally people go to when they can't get hold of the boss.
At this level, you know how to get the work done and can often see opportunities before others. At this level, your quality relationships with the people around you ensure you can provide insights into what work needs to be done and when. At this level, you're at ease speaking up at meetings, making suggestions, asking for the safe opportunities, and having discussions where differing views are put forward. At this level, you most likely have a strong, reliable network to rely on for advice, support and guidance.
You might, at times, ...
- feel like the go to person.
- feel as though you have great workplace relationships and are seen as a valued worker but still miss out on coveted opportunities.
- feel like you are at a transformational point in your career ready for the next step.
At this level some people say:
"I like that my manager seeks my opinion."
"I have a solid group of work colleagues, industry peers and networks I can rely on for guidance and support but they are not in influential positions to sponsor or advocate for me for opportunities or more responsibility."
"I'm okay with pushing back on requests, or having a debate with my manager."
Staying at this level can feel empowering. You are seen as insightful and to be seen as an influencer: sociable, reputable and knowledgeable, then your new mantra may need to be: It's time to play a bigger game.
The risk of staying here is that you will miss opportunities that will positively stretch you and take your career to the next level. Others may see you as critical to the current status quo, so if you want to step it up you would benefit from reviewing your values, skills and strengths, aligning them to where you want to go more than where you are now. Look to broaden your network to include more senior, influential leaders.
You could start with:
Visibility: Engage a mentor who can advocate for you.
Voice: Follow up with the people you meet at networking events. Take time to learn more about them and how you can mutually support each other.
Value: Take time to discuss high level opportunities with your manager: what you might need to develop, who you might need to meet with, how you might step up more, even to act in the manager's role while they are on leave.
