Some benefits of learning online: convenience for families (to not drive to/from) studio, flexible scheduling (choosing at a time that works better for your family, gives you more time back), develops a child's independence, being part of an online community where kids can meet others online (buddy accountability program), enhanced focus and concentration (additional videos, ongoing support throughout the week, visuals, and more!), no more lost or misplaced assignment sheets (everything found online), taking more risks by making mistakes at the comfort of your own space, and getting immediate feedback either by observing other kids (group lessons) and asking for help.
The Happy Keys motto is...Be creative. Be committed. Be the best you! This means parents and their child(ren) work through challenges through creative means, commit to learning beyond just interest thus building a love for music and learning, and being a cheerleader for your child. Your positive force ensures you are doing your best and that your child has the opportunity to also model their best. They are flexible mirrors of you! This also means as a parent, I believe the teacher has my child's best interest in mind. Parents respect their teacher and work together to overcome and persist through learning challenges. This means once we have a breakthrough (i.e., learning all piano notes on the staff) that we celebrate the milestones and we acknowledge the hard work and effort put in. Being the best you also means you will will follow-through our program, show up, and do your best! Being honest is integral to building taking responsibility and holding oneself accountable. Disappointment does not mean one should stop, it just means you can do better.
Be Creative. The Happy Keys Piano Program is holistic, based on best practices, and interactive online and offline. Our piano programs are used by teachers around the world, focus on long-term learning and are systematic. There are goals, challenges, and levels and everyone participates. This may include playing games "off the piano bench", drawing, gluing, and using other manipulatives. Piano lessons are fun and engaging, especially for the first time piano learner...the programs are created for this unique first-time experience. Our piano program allows your child to further their music discovery / education by continuing into private lessons, learning new instruments, collaborating with others, creating your own music, taking exams, participating in piano performances, and more! The Happy Keys Piano Program is the best place for a new beginner to learn piano. I endeavour to do my best to support my child's interests, capabilities, and well-being.
Be committed. The Happy Keys PIano Program is an ever evolving program with a dedicated and passionate team led by Miss Donna. Our goal is to help your child feel successful and feel confident. This may take time but we will get there. Whether it is playing music in front of friends, joining a talent show or creating music for future endeavours, we believe when children feel capable, then anything they desire or want to achieve is more probable. And, when they see their own potential, they will be able to make their own opportunities and create those experiences that shape their livelihood. We give children the tools for success beyond just learning to play an instrument. If your child wants to just play for fun, then they can build on a skill for enjoyment and creativity. If your child wants to eventually take exams or go to a festival/competition, we provide the tools for them to be ready to take on that opportunity. If your child wants to sing, dance and play piano, then we begin to provide the tools for them to take chances, make mistakes, and create! Learning is fun but learning only happens when everyone is committed and moving together towards the next step. Each step results in progress. And, when kids progress, they will want to learn more. The Happy Keys Program requires all parents and students to embody the idea that anything is possible. And, if it isn't, then we will brainstorm and come up with other ways. As Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb says... "I have not failed, not once. I've discovered ten thousand ways that don't work." Now that, is the curious mindset for optimal learning and discovery.
Yes, I love this. I cannot wait to be apart of your learning community.
Yes, I want this. However, I'm not sure if I can commit.
No, this is not really for me right now.
My role as a parent: I understand learning the piano takes patience, time, and repetitive behaviours or habits from parent, child, and teacher. I understand my role as a parent is to be encouraging, model curiosity, and a positive mind-set for my child. I value creativity, commitment, and helping my child reach their highest potential in anything they learn.
