The Curious Connoisseur
You've got a few diet-centered behaviors, but you are already glancing in the undieted way! Good for you! We are immersed in a culture that promises us better lives through counting, restricting, and controlling, but you already have your eyes open to some of the falsehoods built into the diet culture promise! You are committed to not falling prey to another rigid diet, but with all the confusion about food and nutrition, the next steps can be pretty unclear. Right now it may feel like an impossiblity to let go of all those years of rigid food rules, but you know you are done with the guilt and isolation. You just know there is an easier way to do this eating thing and keep it up for the long run, but where to find it?Here's the good news for you, my Curious Connoisseur friend:Your open-mindedness, curiosity, and enthusiasm will make it easier for you to pivot your thinking about eating & food once you get started in a new direction! You just need a guide - you've got the motivation already! You may not be ready to jump ship from your dieting life just yet... but here are a couple first steps that can help, even "The Curious Connoisseur" inch closer to an undieted life!1) Let food be food. The categorization of good & bad foods is a slippery slope for your confidence because it's very easy to make eating a "bad food" turn you into a "bad person." You know who you are - don't let food tell you otherwise!2) Allow all foods. Completely forbidding specific foods or entire food groups altogether (except for a medical reason) primes your brain to actually crave those foods more often. Simply permitting them on occasion will reduce the tendency to binge on restricted foods.3) Check in with your body. You are attentive to how your body feels, so why not tap into that intuition and be more attentive to how specific foods make you feel - physically and emotionally? Your body knows what to do, and don't forget that you are allowed to experience variety! Intuitive eating will be easier and more relevant for you than following someone else's diet plan!I want to quickly introduce myself before you go!Hello, 👋🏻 I'm Maggie Landes MD!I’m a physician, nutritionist, and anti-diet wellness coach helping women fix their food overwhelm and reduce stress with eating so that they can love food again without confusion, achieve their health goals, and get out of their own way!I created my signature getEATfluenced® online course and coaching programs for women just like you - who are burnt out on conflicting nutriton headlines, chronic dieting, and constant concern about your body + health.I also offer a private membership community called "The Chew Crew" where you can connect daily for tips & inspiration, be continuously coached by me, and grow in community with a group of like-minded gal pals to motivate you!Not ready for that yet?
