Kapha dosha
<<that which holds things together>>Kapha is the force behind the lymphatic system and mucus membranes, as well as all physical structures of the body. Your constitution primarily consists of earth + waterTHose with high levels of kapha have an abundance of grounded, soothing energy. they are the friend everyone comes to because they are wonderful listeners and are incredibly loyal. They tend to move slowly and sometimes have a hard time initiating change, but once they set something in motion, they work at it diligently to completion. kapha type people are patient, loyal and full of love, but can sometimes suppress their emotions and have a hard time letting go. People with a strong kapha constitution make great mothers, teachers, and nurses. signs of imbalance: Fluid retention, weight gain, asthma, allergies, lethargy, congestion, depression, laziness, slow metabolism, co-dependencyHere Are 3 ways you can start balancing any excess kapha in your constitution + allow the gifts of your authentic nature to flow. 1) spice it up!kapha type people have a lot of earth in their constitution. They are slow moving and tend towards stagnation, which is reflected in their digestive processes. incorporating culinary spices into your diet will help ensure that your agni (digestive fire) stays lit and will help to keep everything moving so that you don't get a build up of ama (toxins) in your blood and tissue. consider adding some pungent spices to your food such as black pepper, wasabi, ginger, cayenne pepper, mustard seed, cumin, cloves, and turmeric. You could even experiment with making what is known as a churna in ayurveda, which is a mixture of powdered herbs. You can take 1/4 tsp of this churna before a meal to stimulate digestion, or sprinkle it on top of your meal for added flavor. 2) Get Sweaty! Kapha type people are often prone to stagnation, lethargy, and a slow moving metabolism. One of the best ways to counteract these tendencies is to get your body moving. you will want to focus on exercise modalities that make you sweat such as high cardio activities, weight lifting, hot yoga, etc. The act of sweating will help stimulate lymphatic flow to help your body naturally rid itself of toxins, prevent fluid retention, and keep your digestive fire stoked.3) Start a dry brushing practice.the sanskrit word for dry brushing is Garshana. it is an age old practice that helps stimulate the lymphatic system, rid the body of toxins, exfoliate the skin, increase circulation and energy, and break down cellulite. This is a wonderful practice for those with a lot of kapha in their constitution. try incorporating this practice into your routine a couple times a week and then move up from there. remember, it takes time to build a habit so be patient with yourself as you start incorporating changes into your routine.here is a video explanation on how to do this practice.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8x7PU-T3wsLooking to learn more about ayurvedic philosophy or would like some personalized support on your wellness journey?-Be sure to to subscribe to Our newsletter at www.liftedlotus.com and follow us on instagram @_Liftedlotus_ for all sorts of tips and tools to support you on your wellness journey.-consider signing up to work with me in a more intimate atmosphere with 1:1 Ayurvedic wellness sessions where we will dive deep into your unique constitution and I will offer you guidance and support on your healing Journey.
