Welcome!
The fact that you’re here means you’re curious about the health of your soul, and that’s a great place to start! By completing this assessment, you’ve begun to take an important step into what we hope will lead you to discovering the incredible, life-giving benefits of soul care. Whatever’s driving your curiosity or whatever your goals are, we’re thankful you’re here! We believe that with a little guidance and support you can experience a life with God and others that is flourishing, fruitful and sustaining - and we’d love to help you get there."We each have an outer life and an inner one. My outer life is the public, visible me. Because my inner life is invisible, it's easy to neglect. The neglected soul doesn't go away, it goes awry." — John OrtbergSo, what now? This soul health assessment was a great start! But, how many of us have believed that if we just have the right information, believe the right things, and are inspired by others, we can “will” ourselves to change? Sure, we can “will” ourselves to do a lot of things, but this kind of effort only addresses our outward behavior, and most often only temporarily. Soul care is about opening ourselves up to letting God change us from the inside. As your very being is transformed, the overflow of that transformation is a being (that’s us) that reflects the nature of God more naturally, and all with less effort, not more. How freeing does that sound? It's time to start practicing. Here are 3 soul habits you can start practicing today today...1) Get to know God's characterSoul care is about letting God into every corner of your life so that He can know you and you can know Him. Knowing yourself better means knowing Him better, because you are a reflection of Him.SOUL HABIT: Grab your favorite writing device and answer this question:"I believe God is ________." Write this sentence 3 times with your first responses. Then, use an online Bible search engine (like OpenBible) and type in the words you wrote. See what the Bible has to say about God's character. 2. Begin to train your soulSoul care is more than a list of spiritual disciplines. It's more than a list of "to-do's" in a daily quiet time. It’s an invitation from God to let him into the places no one else sees and experience being fully known and loved in his presence. SOUL HABIT: Notice this as you go about your day:"I feel most connected to God when I _________."Just pay attention to when you feel God's presence. You might experience Him in unexpected places, so be ready! Hint: you're most likely to experience Him when it's quiet, so that's the best time to really tune in. 3. Connect with othersWe were never meant to make it on our own. As relational beings, we were made to be connected - soul to soul. While our soul is made to connect to our Creator, we also need to experience Jesus with skin on - through other people.SOUL HABIT: Invite someone else into your soul care journey.Ask a someone you trust to ask you regularly about the health of your soul. If that feels too scary, then ask them to simply ask how you're doing - and then respond honestly! "I'm fine" won't do. Begin to be real about the inside you so that you can "Who’s asking these questions?" Let us introduce ourselves...Hey there, we're Heidi & Kristi, co-founders of Habits of the Soul.
