The Orpheum or Majestic Theater Ghosts
There’s no haunting like a theater haunting. The charismatic Majestic Theater, opened in 1906, has hosted vaudeville shows, silent movies, and even Harry Houdini. There have been multiple reports of a strange, shadowy figure wandering the building. In one case, a ghostly voice wished performers good luck before a show, then invisible hands pulled their hair. (Mixed messages, much?) The glamorous Orpheum Theater, named for the Greek hero Orpheus who journeyed to the underworld, opened in 1926. Visitors have reported an uneasy feeling in the downstairs restroom area, strange noises when no one is around, and apparitions dressed in clothing from the 1920s and 30s. This Halloween, we recommend catching a show at one of these beautiful, historic venues. Just have a look around for anything … unusual.
