Blood Sugar Master
Way to rock that blood sugar! You are making diet and lifestyle choices that are aiding in keeping your blood sugar controlled. Lets keep up the good work.In your journey to maintaining optimal health, there are times it can feel overwhelming, or you have days that you feel are harder than others to keep making the best choices on consistent basis. No worries, friend. I’m here to help!“Nurturing yourself is not selfish—it’s essential to your survival and your well–being.” — Renee Peterson TrudeauThree tips to help you on your path to a healthy, happy lifestyle...1) Balanced meals. Having the right portions of proteins, carbohydrates and fats with each mealOur bodies function optimally when our meals include all three macronutrients; proteins, carbohydrates and fats. When we eat the right portions of these nutrients at each meal, it not only helps our body function at it's best but it helps keep our blood sugar balanced. Ideally you should aim for your plate to have 1/2 be vegetables, 1/4 be proteins and 1/4 be carbohydrates. With controlling our blood sugar we can negate hunger and lethargy, which sounds amazing right? If we don't strive to keep our blood sugar in control, it can increase risk for type 2 diabetes. 2) Incorporate more fiber!Fiber is your friend and on average adults in the Unites States are lacking about half of the recommended amount. Some easy ways to increase the amount of fiber you consume daily is to chose whole grain carbohydrates like brown rice, buckwheat, bulgur, oatmeal, and quinoa. Lastly, try swapping out some snacks for a serving of fruit, fruit is higher in fiber and may also help curb your sweet tooth, so that you'll eat less of the refined carbohydrates, which cause unwanted spikes in our blood sugar.3) Pick Exercises that Excite YouFriend, exercise doesn’t have to look like you sweating it out in an overcrowded gym. While treadmills, ellipticals, and similar cardio machines are a great option if you’re short on time, they can get a little boring if you don’t switch up your workout routine.Instead of forcing yourself to spend an hour doing something you really aren’t in the mood for, ask yourself what physical activities you genuinely enjoy. It could be something simple as raking the leaves in your front yard or taking a relaxing walk along the creek with friends or family. If you pick something that lights you up, you’re way more likely to get out there and actually do it."Who’s this health whiz with all the tips?"
