Disconnected Donna: Where's Your Mind At?
Friend! Your dominant cravings trigger is your MINDSET 🧠 around food, your body and yourself... making you a Disconnected Donna (not a bad thing!).💛 This means that your feelings, emotions and thought (or inability to be aware of them) are influencing your hunger, cravings and over-eating patterns. But don't stress...we got solutions for you...Your mindset is the bedrock from which all other healthy habits can sprout.🌱 How you perceive yourself and the world around you is extremely impactful in how you think, act and live. Catch my drift?So how can you start to change your mindset? 🙏Here are three tips to help you shift your perception & align it more with your health & fitness goals...1) Reflect on Your Current Relationship with FoodA great place to start is to reflect on your current attitudes and thoughts around food, dieting, cravings and hunger. 1. Grab a sheet of paper and list out any phrases, ideas, concepts, childhood habits and relationships that you have learned and/or observed up until now. 2. Looking at eat item you listed ask yourself:Where did I learn this? Is this a positive association or negative?Why do I belive this? Is this true or not?Does this still affect me to this day?Do I want to continue to hold onto this idea?3. Lastly, ask yourself how you can start to shift these ideas and thoughts about your current situation?2. List your valuesI know, it sounds weird...but, how can you create a life filled with habits & routines if we don't know the values that drive those habits & routines? By listing out your values, you can align your actions with them. Here's an exercise to do:Step 1: Current Situation Grab a piece of paper and draw a circle. That circle represents one full day in hours. Divide the circle into slices, each representing the amount of time you spend on different areas of your life. The larger the slice, the more time you spend on that area.(Example areas = Family, Community, Spirituality, Work, Fun & Recreation, Creativity, Personal Development, Goals & Values, Personal Relationships, Volunteering, Money, and Health & Exercise. (Feel free to add or remove any of these options))Step 2: Ideal SituationOn a fresh page, complete the same exercise as above, but this time think about where you would actually want to spend your time.Some questions to get you thinking before you start drawing:
What makes you happy? What gives you peace of mind?Step 3 - ReflectWhat’s the difference between your current versus ideal circle?Did you notice any discrepancies? Any similarities you are proud of?
What prevents you from taking action to make your “current” closer to your “ideal”?How can you better align your life with your ideal circle?3. Notice How You Speak To YourselfThe dialogue we say to ourselves is extremely powerful. Take note of the tone and angle of the things you say to yourself. Jot down what you notice on a piece of paper or on your phone. At the end of the day or week, reflect. Are these mostly positive or negative?What words are coming up often? Are these helpful or hurtful?How can I change what I'm saying to myself to make it uplifting & positive?Can you identify where some of your words and tone could be negatively impacting your thoughts, feelings and attitudes towards yourself?"Who’s the #CravingsQueen with all the tips?"
