You're An All Or Nothing Dieter
You have good intentions to eat well and go to the gym but, if something gets in the way of your plans, you totally give up. You're a perfectionist so you think "if I can't do something perfectly, then why even bother!" If you don't have time to get your whole workout in, you won't do any of it! If you can't track your food for one meal, you won't bother for the rest of the day or even the week! There is no gray area with you, only black or white thinking. This is definitely holding you back from getting results you want and keeping them for life!Your Course Of ActionStart Making Choices On a ContinuumYou need to ditch the perfectionist attitude because, this is real life, you're not always going to be able to do something perfectly! Things are going to get in the way. You have to start seeing your choices as a continuum and not just black or white. There are choices in between that, while maybe not the most optimal choice, would be better than totally blowing it!For example, the most optimal choice could be to do your whole workout but, if you don't have time one day you could do 20 minutes instead of doing nothing at all.Or, if you eat a piece of cake when you decided you weren't going to, instead of telling yourself you failed already so you may as well eat another slice, you could ditch the negative self talk, move on and get back on track with making healthy choices at your next meal!Start Viewing Losing Weight As A LifestyleInstead of going hard at the wrong things like overly restricting or giving up entire food groups (ahem...carbs) sometimes....but then totally going overboard if something messes with your plan, you have to start practicing moderation with the RIGHT things. For example: learn how to eat the RIGHT amount of food to reach your goals without feeling totally deprived. Stop thinking this is a quick fix that can get results NOW and then you can stop. Instead, implement practices that you can sustain for life WHILE losing weight so there is no more need for this "all or nothing" or "one or the other" thinking.Join Fit & FaithfulGood news!Inside my faith-based group weight loss program "Fit & Faithful" you'll learn how to make weight loss a lifestyle, not just a diet you try.
