You are experiencing high levels of burnout.
When it comes to caring for others, you are first in line. Even though you feel emotionally depleted, you still find the space to be there for someone else. However, all of this has a cost for you, and it hasn't been good for some time. I wonder where caring for yourself comes into play. It's quite often that you feel tired as a result of your job as a mental health provider. Your relationships with family members have been negatively affected by your work as a therapist and people are starting to ask you when you'll be leaving the field of mental health. You're still in it because of all the hard work it took you to get here but you're starting to wonder what life could be like if you just left to work at the grocery store. Because of this, it's not a surprise that you don't feel satisfied with your work. Your personal life has taken a hit and you have new physical ailments as well as struggle mentally with anxiety or depression. You struggle daily to set boundaries between work and your personal life. You don't even remember the last time you had 30 minutes to engage in personal interests. Due to your job as a therapist, you feel overstressed daily and don't even recall the last time you engaged in self-care.You feel frustrated with the system you're working in. You also don't think you're as effective as a clinician right now. Every client just seems like another dollar sign, a number. You hate to admit this, but you lack empathy for your clients. You keep going to work because you have to, not because you want to. You're hoping you can keep coasting and not let your boss find out about you experiencing burnout. Read on for your personalized abundance playbook!Step 1. Identify three self-care practices that will only take 5 minutes: Whether you decide to meditate, go for a short walk, or journal, having some quick self-care practices in your toolbox will be helpful when you feel emotionally drained. Remember to choose what works for you. What makes you feel recharged? This is where the magic happens. Step 2: Find some time to rest: In the book Sacred Rest, Dr. Dalton-Smith discusses how important rest is for the psychological, physiological, and spiritual self. What does rest look like for you? Find some time this week for rest that might feed your soul. Step 3. Live in alignment with your values: It’s clear that living in alignment with our values changes how we perceive our daily lives. So if you need the reminder, take a few moments to jot down your top five values, in order, and find ways to live out those values daily. For example, if you value health, make sure that you're sleeping well, eating well, and moving your body daily. Who am I to tell you how to spend your time & energy?
