Your #1 block to doubling your impact is... you're not clear what your mission is
You've had more than your share of ups and downs in your life, and now, you're committed to having more ups (especially more time with your family) and helping people to get more ups too. Heeeeello, self-employment!You recently started your business because you were CALLED to help people who are going through something similar to what you went through because your life is so different now that you hardly recognize yourself. You know you have a mission, but you can't really put it into just a few words. It's more like a feeling. You think you know your niche (usually something like overwhelmed/stuck/burned-out women), but you're really happy to help anybody and it shows in your web copy. The results are that you over-deliver and under-charge (I'll bet you could probably double your prices tomorrow and be just fine).Sales and marketing are not your thang, and you wish clients would just magically show up at your door (aka, website or in your DMs) and buy your services. You've probably signed up for a few marketing courses, like how to do well on Instagram or how to package your expertise into a course, but something didn't feel right about it, you didn't finish it, and what you learned didn't really help you speak confidently about what you do because you needed the course that came BEFORE those expensive marketing courses (OMG!)The PROBLEM is that you're setting yourself up to compete against all of the other people who do what you do, e.g. coaching, healing, etc... but they have more experience than you do (aka more testimonials and have written in bigger publications), have more clarity than you have (aka niched down and better messaging), and have more confidence than you do (aka they're showing up practically glowing on video and on podcasts). Some ideas (from me and Albert Einstein) to help you get to the next level…1. Niche into psychographics, not demographics. When you're starting out, you feel like you should cast a wide net so you can find any client, but the actuality is exactly the opposite of that - until you have a name built for yourself, you need to provide a very specific transformation for a very specific person. The key is to focus on the problem, not the demographic info they have in common, so for example, mothers who hate their jobs and want to work from home to be with their kids, but need help figuring out what their next career could be versus women from 30-50 who feel "stuck" (think about it - stuck from what?) 2. Realize that you're uniquely qualified to help them. The reason those marketing courses aren't helping you YET is that you're still too vague about what you do, who you do it for, and the results you get for people. People won't pay you if you're not confident in what you can do for them and that you're the best person to help them. And yet, you are unique, with your unique experiences, and a solution you truly believe can help people with your help. My shaynah maidel/eh (dear girl/boy), own your uniqueness and everything will change for you!3. Help real people in your messaging. When it comes to your marketing, I want you to talk to a real person, not some vague avatar (that "stuck mid-life woman"). Talk to that one person about what they're suffering with, literally say or write out the thoughts in their heads, then they'll feel like you get them and can help them with their problems. Resonating is about getting them to make gut decisions, not rational decisions. People rarely hire the most qualified person for the job. Take advantage of that!4. Sell them what they want (not what they need). My big-hearted friend, humans are rarely rational (didn't I already tell you that?) You've been through something big and you came out the other side. You know what will help them, buuuuut, you can't tell people what they need. They won’t buy it (WTF?)! Instead, meet them where they're at - in that Hell-hole you were in. And by all means, sell them a really good "after" story, but please, don't make it some highfalutin bliss, especially if your program is only a few weeks/months long (you're going to lose trust making unbelievable claims like that).5. Find your exact mission. I get that you left your job for the main reason to be able to control when and where you work, but you also left because you were called to help people - a lot of people! If you want to weather the hard times of being a business owner and speak from a place of conviction (which looks like confidence without all requisite years of experience - yay!), then, you need to find your very specific mission/purpose/big why and let that be your GUIDING LIGHT. Honestly, you don't need another job. This is your chance!6. Raise your prices. You don't have to do it today (yes, breathe), but if your solution is unique and life-changing, then let people know that. Price is an INDICATOR of quality and value. Nu (so), how valuable is the transformation you can provide them??? Don't let your pricing be determined by your lack of confidence or money issues. Over time, keep adjusting upwards, so you feel appreciated and attract better clients.Who am I to talk about becoming rave-worthy? Hi, I'm Suzy Dickstein.I have the magic touch when it comes to niching down and finding people's missions. People are so hard on themselves. They can't seem to see their God-given gifts or their mission, but I can see them very clearly. You'll hear me randomly shout out, "gold!" when it happens. Unlike you, I love sales, marketing, and even public speaking. The world revolves around them! Ideas can't come to fruition without amazing ideas packaged in a way that resonates and a spokesperson who gets them into people's hearts and minds. That's why I help people package up their superpowers and messy life experiences into a powerful personal brand that they can take to the masses, so they can impact 1,000s of lives. You may want to stay small, but you shouldn't. There are too many people that need what you do. Instead, I want you to consider rising to the occasion. You were meant for greatness!Your Next Steps to Impacting 1,000s of Lives1. Get clear on the foundations of our business. Until you're clear on your gifts, who you work best with, your big why, and the life-changing transformations you can get for people, you'll feel out of alignment and you'll have trouble putting yourself out there in a big, bold way. I want more for you than that. 2. Learn the art of resonating. You can't just tell people what they need and what to do - people hate that. Instead, you need to help them see themselves in the stories you tell and the specific examples you use. While you might find persuasion or sales tactics ichy, people need a push to help them make decisions that are in their best interests (note: nobody likes change). 3. Package up your offer(s). Few people will sign up for some open-ended coaching or program with per-hour pricing. They want a light at the end of the (payment) tunnel. That means it should be very clear who they'll become, how long it will take, and what it'll cost them to fix this problem. And since you've developed this unique solution, I want you to name it. That's how you stand out.4. Binge-watch. Sporadically, I send out an e-mail about niching, making offers, messaging, aka how to resonate better and step out as a brand champion, like this one, "The Best Avatar To Imagine", or if you're a binger like I am, you can subscribe to my YouTube channel and binge away. Most videos are only 1-minute long. Ready to Make a Bigger Impact? If you're still hustling for every new client or they're not lining up to work with you, it's likely because your niche is too big and your messaging sounds the same-as everybody else who does what you do. Sorry to tell you, but you're making it hard for people to say "yes" to working with you. Buuuuuut, you could and should be impacting a lot more people's lives. Here's what you're missing (and so are they) - CLARITY! When you nail the foundations of your business, e.g. your niche, offers, messaging, etc., and step into your role as the champion of your personal brand, that's when people'll start raving about you, and ideal prospects and opportunities will start coming your way. And this doesn't need to take long either. Instead of wasting 6-12 more months spinning your wheels waiting for an epiphany, signing up for another $2K course where you get limited eyeballs on your business, or paying for endless coaching where you're supposed to have the all the answers within you (seriously?!?), sign up for my one-on-one VIP day called, "Rise to Rave-Worthy Business Idea™" and in one day, you'll walk away with your dream business idea.Check out this consulting session with Elena to see the powerful transformation this type of intense work can achieve.
