Your taste in design is as timeless as you. You opt for staple pieces with clean, simple details that will stand the test of time. Neutral colors are your love language, as they never go out of style. You like traditional elements, such as wall moldings, cabinet details, and trim, but prefer to keep them clean and not fussy. You are intentional with the pieces you select, incorporating materials and decor that have meaning. Whether it's an antique or a piece of art from your grandmother, the items in your home tell a story."There are two things that make a room timeless: a sense of history and a piece of the future." — Charlotte MossTIPS TO HELP YOU AVOID DESIGN FATIGUEIf selecting materials or furniture feels like a whirlpool of stress and self-doubt, you’re not alone, friend. You might be thinking to yourself...…what if I spend all this money then get tired of my new furniture two-months later…what if the materials I select aren't cohesive?…what if I buy something and it's the completely wrong size?On top of that, you’ve got a sea of options to choose from. No wonder design feels overwhelming. Here's our no-fail method when it comes to selecting items for your home:1. Set the MoodNow that you know your style, create a Pinterest board for each room you're designing and start saving images that all have the same feel. You’ll still have an array of options, but you’ll be able to make the final decision with more confidence knowing it suits your aesthetic.2. Start With a StatementStart with one piece that will be your focal point and build off of that. Whatever it is, make sure you genuinely love it. Your focal point should put a smile on your face because odds are you're going to be looking at it a lot. This could be a tile, counter, sofa - generally it's a foundational piece of your space. Pick the rest of your décor to compliment that one statement piece. This will help you overcome any interior design indecision you may be facing. As a rule of thumb, we tend to stay more neutral on the items that are more permanent (such as tile or countertops).3. Experiment with Color and TextureColor and texture can transform how you feel. It’s science, friend. Each shade has a unique psychological affect. For example, blue is calming, which makes it a great pick for bedrooms.Texture can also add a lot to a room. If you’re going for a warm, inviting vibe, pick soft fabrics. We like to add color and texture through items that can easily be swapped out, so if over time you get sick of them, you aren't demoing tile to change the look."Who’s this design guru giving me all the tips?"
