Your hair is wanting…rosemary and protein!
Stressed, brittle, and eternally sensitive, your hair is screaming for solid structure and some extreme protein! Hair either repairs or it grows, and you’ll have a hard time achieving the luscious locks of your dreams until you address the faults in it’s very foundation.Human hair is made up of a complex mix of amino acids and keratin, and when the protein in the hair is degraded through heat, chemical treatment, or just unfortunate genetics, sometimes it’s necessary to call in reinforcements in the form of protein treatments, washing less often, using my dry shampoo with rosemary and my Mermaid Texturing and Growth Spray. Hair has a subtle science to it and you can tweak it in your favor if you can learn to read the signs of what it needs. Pro Tip: too much protein can be a bad thing, too! Forgetting to balance the amount of protein you’re adding with a healthy dose of moisture can dry out your already brittle hair. Try incorporating more Omegas and grass fed beef and other clean sources of protein. So after you treat your tresses with a mermaid spray, douse them with your favorite oil rich deep oil(calendula and rosemary infused hair oil) to lock that goodness in!Chemical and heat services can also skew the ph balance of your hair out of it’s natural range, so adding an acidifying treatment(ask your hairdresser at your next appt.) to your poor, basic ends will help your hair absorb the protein and retain it for weeks to come! Health Check: Sometimes your hair’s unruliness can be an indication of underlying health issues. Our hair and skin can be our early warning signs that there’s an imbalance in the body, so if your brittle, damaged hair is accompanied by hair loss, scalp irritation, and fatigue, consider consulting a physician.“Your hair is 90% of your selfie.” LOVE IS IN THE HAIR3 Tips to get the Tresses of Your Dreams 1. Shower PowerThe best hair day starts in the shower. And sometimes, it isn’t even that day’s shower. Lol! Yes, I’m talking about dirty hair, and how to get there in a healthy way. Those who style their hair on the regular know the time it takes to get it perfect, and those who like to wash and wear still don’t love the hang time with soggy locks. So reduce your water usage, cut back on your style time, and give your hair a break by skipping the shampoo most mornings, and only using it on the roots when you do use it. Your scalp is where oil and product build up the most, and you want to take the time to really stimulate your scalp with a little self-love scalp massage as you break up those oils and exfoliate the skin at your roots. When you rinse, the rest of your hair will be gently cleansed by the run-off, and your ends won’t be dried out by the surfactants in the shampoo. Any conditioner you apply should be massaged only into the ends of your hair, so anything that fits into a ponytail. The longer your hair is, the longer it’s been around, and those back grazing ends are senior citizens in hair years. Give them all the nutrients they need, and treat them extra special with a deep conditioner when you know you’re going to blast them with the wind of a thousand desert suns. Bonus Tip: Brush your hair vigorously before you wash it. This will break up and shake loose any product or old dry shampoo that’s lingering, but even more importantly, it will stimulate your roots and promote stronger, healthier hair growth. #EatYourHeartOutJLo 2.
