Your Superpower is CONNECTION!
You're a natural at bringing the intimacy of in-person learning to the virtual classroom. People always say, "It feels like you read my mind!" Especially if you're in the producer role. Partly, it's because you monitor the tech closely. But it's also because of your ability to empathize. You're always finding ways to make a personal connection with your participants. And, they love you for it. Sure, they might use their powerful telepathic abilities to save the world. But you’re doing more than just “saving” the world, you’re building it.The virtual world can be lonely. Thank you for making it brighter with the deep connections you're forging every day. It makes you the true hero.Psst: If Connection doesn't seem like your superpower, watch your email for more powers to choose from! In the real world, everyday superheroes get to choose which powers they exhibit.Sure, everyone's comfortable virtually after 2020. That doesn't mean they like learning virtually. Or that they aren't multi-tasking in the background... Which means... You've got to step up your game with activities that promote connection, participation, and engagement. Without being too intimidating... Your FREE Activity: Four CornersThe Sneaky Annotation Trick for Uncovering ConnectionsI like my slides to be "working space." A collaborative place available for everyone to share their thoughts and ideas.Yet, we often stop after people annotate. Almost as if we're checking off a box labelled "engage participants," instead of building relationships...I encourage my participants to continue connecting with each other by grouping participants into breakout rooms according to their annotations. Here's how you could group people using this Four Corners Activity:Potential Options for Extending the Connections:Let participants choose their breakout rooms by labelling each one: Agree, Strongly Agree, Disagree, or Strongly Disagree.Ask your Virtual Producer to put them into breakout rooms. You could even put people with different opinions in each room to create an extra rousing discussion. Create private chats with people split into their four groups based on their answers. Anytime you're annotating, you always have the option of extending into like-minded... or diverse-minded groupings. Don't just annotate for interaction. Foster true connections between your participants, instead. Hi, I'm Kassy LaBorie, theOriginal Virtual Training Hero!Virtual training is challenging.
