from unworthy to REDEEMED
We all carry labels. Many of us carry mother, friend, daughter. But we often also carry labels that were etched into us through pain. They are the words spoken over us. The silence we received when we needed kindness. The assumptions we made by interpreting what others might believe about us.We begin to internalize the messages: You are not worthy. You are too much. You are invisible. You are too hard to love. And before we know it, those messages start sounding like truth. These labels slip into our beings in childhood, in adolescence, even in adulthood. And then they follow us—into motherhood, into marriage, into friendships—quietly shaping how we see ourselves and where we believe we belong in the world.I know we didn't wake up one day and decide to believe these lies about ourselves. It was a slow process. And yet, we absorbed them. We rehearsed them. We built our lives around them.Often without even realizing they were there until we felt the weight of them shaping our choices, our relationships, and the way we speak to ourselves when no one else is listening. When we believe we are too much, we learn how to disappear. We soften our opinions. We shrink our needs. We fold ourselves into smaller and smaller spaces so we won’t inconvenience anyoneWe take up less room, ask for less, expect less. When we believe we are not worthy, we begin to accept what should never be ours to carry. We stay in unhealthy relationships. We over-apologize for simply existing. We become experts at people-pleasing.We hope that if we’re agreeable enough, helpful enough, quiet enough, someone will finally choose us.When our worth is misplaced, it shows up everywhere. We compare ourselves constantly, wondering why everyone else seems to be doing motherhood better, faith better, life better. We strive for perfection, believing that if we can just get it right, we’ll finally be safe. And we fear failure. Not because failure is painful, but because it feels like proof of what we’ve believed all along. You know that saying about something living rent-free in your mind? This is exactly that. These beliefs replay on a loop, constantly shaping our emotions, influencing our decisions, and building a story that keeps reinforcing the very label we're trying to escape. The label that was never meant for us, that we were never designed to carry.
