Yellow Zone: You're on the path
You're well on your way! While you're likely to have a good experience if you had a psilocybin journey now, you would likely benefit from a bit of preparation. Slowing down and tuning into your senses more often, or starting a meditation practice are just a couple of ideas. Studies show that those who meditate regularly tend to have better experiences on psychedelics. It doesn't have to be meditation, though - anything that gets you out of your head and into your body can help. Somatic experiencing, yoga, sound healing, relaxing in nature, or breathwork are a few ideas. You might also do well to put some attention on your inner world. You could start journaling regularly or working with a therapist or coach. You might allow yourself to sit with difficult emotions and/or start examining some of the painful experiences from your childhood. Not only can this expand your capacity to tolerate difficult feelings, but it can prepare you for what might come up in a psilocybin experience. Just make sure you have a support system in place in case you start to feel overwhelmed; this is especially important if you experienced significant trauma in your past. There are other factors that can influence your experience, from high stress levels to an abusive living situation. A well-trained facilitator will ask you about your history and current life circumstances to make sure the timing is right and that it's safe for you. I recommend having an open, honest conversation with your facilitator so they can accurately assess your risk level and readiness. Above all, it's important for you to work with someone you can trust. Studies have shown that a person's comfort level with their facilitator is the most important factor in having a satisfying psilocybin session. If you have questions and/or would like to talk about working with me (with no obligation), you can schedule your free consultation by clicking below.
