You are... NOT QUITE READY to join Life After Loss Academy.
It's okay. Not every grief support tool is right for every griever.(That's why you'll never find me flying to the jungle to do ayahuasca! It's just not my idea of a helpful grief tool.)Based on your answers, here are four reasons you're not quite ready to join Life After Loss Academy:1. Healing and growth are not your first priority right now.Sometimes when life is doing its twists-and-turns thing, moving forward can't rank high on your priority list. Other needs have to come first, and that's okay. It takes a lot of energy to explore moving forward after a devastating loss, and that sort of energy may be in short supply for you right now.2. You're not excited about community support.Whether you're not open to sharing your grief story or you'd rather work through your grief alone, receiving coaching and community support is not important to you in this season. You might feel like you need to keep your grief close to your chest or you might be exhausted at the thought of encouraging others during their milestones and anniversaries. You can't pour from an empty cup, and it's understandable that being part of a group doesn't resonate for you.3. You don't have the time.Life After Loss Academy is a "grief school" of sorts and requires about 1-2 hours per week to watch the video lessons, complete the homework, and participate in the course. You might not have that sort of time available right now, and that means you won't get the most you can get out of the course.4. You're still in crisis mode. While you might intuitively know that there's more to life than grief, it may be all you can see right now. You might need more time to let the shock and numbness of your loss wear off or you might need to practice simply surviving day-to-day before diving deep into what I call the "hard and heart work" of processing your grief. There's still something you can do.Life After Loss Academy is not the only way through grief. Visit my website to explore lower-touch, lower-commitment tools for dealing with grief. For instance, you might like to listen to Grief Grower, my free weekly podcast where I share helpful tools and hopeful interview for life after loss. You might also like to read or listen to my books, which can be more like gentle "choose your own adventure" paths through grief. 💚
