Your ideal Edinburgh Elopement is... an off the beaten track outdoor ceremony.
Picture this - just a half hour out from Edinburgh city centre (by car or train), a little 2 or 3 day sojourn from the hustle and bustle, just the 2 of you in a beautiful cabin. Nearby outdoor ceremony options - stunning beaches, beautiful woods, clifftops, castle ruins, quaint harbour towns, a great gin distillery, secret gardens, grand country houses... East Lothian has heaps to offer couples looking for something outdoors but off the beaten track. While Glencoe and the Highlands are wonderful, they dont have the infrastructure to sustain the level of elopements they're seeing daily. East Lothian is scattered with tourism, home to many a golf course and lots of seabird and sailing trips, there are far more options for accommodation and places to visit and eat than the Highlands can offer. Nearby towns and villages have some great restaurants, coffee shops, bars and pubs for a celebratory meal or we can have seafood platters, cake and/or sushi delivered. We can hook you up with great local hair and makeup, caterers, florists and musicians, whatever you are looking for to mark the day.We have local contacts with beautiful independently owned cabins (in the woods or with a private beach perfect for hosting your ceremony) and farm steadings and cottages for any guests to stay close by too. These are perfect options for international touring around Scotland who would like a quiet little adventure while also seeing the city sights.3 Things to Consider When Planning Your Dream Scottish Elopement1. Celebrants for your celebrationsUnlike other parts of the UK, in Scotland celebrants, so long as they're licensed, can officiate over your wedding ceremony. This opens up so many options for the style and content of the ceremony itself. I always advice any couples who aren't religious look into working with a celebrant over heading to the City Chambers, as these folks are storytellers, private detectives and wedding experts. They'll quiz you then put together the most beautiful, unique and completely personal ceremony, which can feature any words in any form you like alongside a handful of legal declarations. I've got some great contacts at a range of organisations, each with a slightly different ethos, so your ceremony can be spiritual without being religious. All you need is a licensed celebrant and 2 legal witnesses (I can also point you to the paperwork info with all the relevant timelines and places for submission).2. Design a day true to youThis is your chance to really be yourself — just because it’s a small affair doesn’t mean you can’t go as over the top as you would if there were 1000 on the guest list, if that's what you want to do. We work with all different budgets and with couples travelling alone or celebrating with their witnesses or even up to around 20 guests.Eloping or even having a tiny wedding frees you up to completely ignore any unhelpful traditions and to build a day which feels truly representative of you and your journey to get to this milestone together. Wear what you want, do what you want, say and exhange the vows you want, celebrate in spaces that bring you joy - opulent, industrial, cosy, outdoor, whatever you like, the options are endless.3. Ingest only the bestWe’ve all gotta eat (and drink), RIGHT? It could be a taco truck on the beach or canapes on silver platters — have fun with a fusion of your favourite flavours.Date nights are a great way to learn about your partner’s cultural background… where would you go and what would you eat & drink on the best date together? We can find places, spaces and catering legends to help create some decadence or we can have seafood platters delivered to your secret stay in the wilds, whatever works for you both.Edinburgh Elopements for Romantic Renegades and Indie Lovers.I'm Solen.
