  You're nostalgic and love finding ways to stay connected. This tradition dates back to 1911, when attendees at the UW's first homecoming celebration could purchase a 10-cent button reading "Wallop Minnesota!" More than a century later, the buttons are still cherished collector's items.

  You're Yell Like Hell

  You’re a loud and proud Badger and never miss a chance to show your school spirit. First held in 1953, Yell Like Hell challenged students to out-cheer one another with chants, songs, and skits. It quickly became one of Homecoming's most spirited traditions before it faded out in the 20-teens.

  You're the Homecoming Bonfire

  You’re fired up about being a Badger and people naturally gather around your warm energy. The first Homecoming bonfire lit up campus in 1912 and soon grew into a major event featuring torchlit processions and school spirit on full display. During World War II, the raucous celebration was scrapped in favor of fundraising for the war effort, though the Homecoming Parade continues today.

  You're the Law School Cane Toss

  You're a little quirky and proud of it. This Law School tradition traces its roots to 1910, when graduating law students began tossing canes over the goalpost before the Homecoming game. Legend says catching your cane means you'll win your first case.
