I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Carly Banks, founder of The Habit Ayurveda. She’s been an interact customer for 6 years, and her Dosha Quiz has brought in over 170,000 leads. My favorite quote from the interview was when I asked her what kind of impact that has had on her business and life. She replied.

That made me happy inside, because the whole reason we created Interact was to help business owners like Carly live better lives because their quizzes are able to do the conversion work of turning casual visitors into email subscribers who become buyers. Heck, that’s the same reason we started the company in the first place way back in 2013, because we had a content marketing engine going, but struggled to get leads from it. Our quiz back then, just like Carly’s quiz now, did the work of conversion, and it has yielded great outcomes.

To cover some basics about Carly’s quiz. It’s integrated embedded into her Squarespace website, connected to Kit for email marketing and segmentation based on quiz results, and she uses Manychat to automate sending the quiz to people who comment on Instagram.
She promoted it using Facebook Ads, Instagram Reels, and through a button on her website. We will cover these pieces in more detail, but wanted to lay out the general approach Carly took here.

The Habit’s Quiz is a really simple concept, developed over many years working with clients. The quiz simply helps you find what is out of balance in your life, affecting your energy, and then provides recommendations for simple things you can change to improve your energy. It sounds so trite on the surface, but in talking to Carly about it, she clearly spent many years identifying patterns among her clients that lead to their energy depletion. Then she reverse engineered those patterns into the results of her quiz. That way, when someone is taking her quiz, they feel seen and heard, since the questions and results will resonate with them very clearly.
The Habit Brought in 170,000+ New Leads with Their Quiz

These numbers are staggering. Over half a million people have taken the quiz, more than 170,000 have opted in to become leads. The opt-in is optional, which means that the other 400,000 people could still become customers, they just didn’t want to join the email list right away. This is truly remarkable, and we will next look at how Carly promoted the quiz to get this traffic.
Quiz Promotion Method #1: Facebook Ads
“I was getting $0.09 Leads from Meta Ads to my quiz and Quickly Scaled my list to 150,000″

Carly was getting $0.09 leads from Facebook (Meta) ads. Granted this was back in 2019, so things were different then, and ads were cheaper. But holy smokes, that’s an insanely low number. And it quickly scaled her list to over 150,000 people.
Quiz Promotion Method #2: Instagram Reels
“I went viral with a Reel about the quiz, I had ManyChat setup so people could comment to take the quiz”

The next big hit for driving traffic and leads to the quiz was through an Instagram reel about Dosha types. Carly visually shows how you can tell which type you are in the reel, and then has a Manychat automation set up, so if someone wants to take the quiz they can comment to get it sent to them. The reel went viral, 4.1 million views, and 27,000 leads generated.
