Karla Pamanes is a brand and web designer based in San Antonio, Texas, who helps business owners build and refine their brand identities. When she started her design business full-time in 2021, she wanted a lead magnet that would grow her email list without depending on social media algorithms. That’s when she built a brand quiz lead magnet called Discover Your Unique Brand Design Style!, which has run as a website pop-up ever since.

Five Years of Compounding Results
Since launching in January 2021, the quiz has generated 2,207 views, 1,352 quiz starts, and 894 completed quizzes, converting into 837 new email subscribers. That’s a 38% conversion rate from every visitor who lands on the quiz page. Pamanes says the results have “far exceeded my expectations for something I created nearly five years ago.” Nearly a third of her entire email list traces back to this one quiz, which she built once and has left largely untouched since.
How the Brand Quiz Lead Magnet Works
The quiz walks visitors through questions about their aesthetic preferences, including which color palette feels most aligned with their brand and how they’d describe their business today. It then delivers a personalized result, such as Luxe and Elegant or Modern and Minimal, paired with a description of what that style means for their brand identity.

Because the quiz is built around brand identity rather than a generic opt-in offer, it ties directly into the service Pamanes sells. Visitors get real value from their result, and Pamanes gets a natural way to start a conversation about their brand.
A Lead Magnet That Doubles as a Client Conversation Starter
The quiz has become part of how Pamanes meets new clients. Prospective clients have emailed her their results before ever booking a call, or brought them up during discovery calls unprompted. She’s heard people say things like “I took your quiz, and I’m Modern and Minimal!” or “I’m definitely Bold and Colorful!”
That gives her a head start on every new client relationship. Instead of starting from scratch, she already has a sense of what the person is drawn to before the conversation begins, which she says makes it easier to move into strategy.
Why She’d Build It Again
Pamanes has redesigned her website, refined her services, and launched new courses since 2021. Through all of it, the quiz has kept working in the background, introducing new people to her business without any additional effort on her part.
“Sometimes the best marketing isn’t the newest trend,” Pamanes says. “It’s the tool you create with intention, continue to improve, and allow to work for you year after year.”
