The News Quiz is such a brilliant format. It’s been popular since the 1700’s and least, when Irish Pubs would host a weekly quiz night that was the place to be in pre-internet days. Columbia University has perfected the format, and runs a periodical news quiz using Interact quizzes, that is so good we have to highlight it.
The Columbia News Quizzes Provide Instant Feedback
Taking a news quiz from Columbia is a great experience because immediately after you answer each question, you learn whether you got it right or wrong. You can then see what the correct answer is, and see an explanation of why the correct answer is correct, before you click “Next” to move on in the quiz.

Each News Quiz Ends by Recommending Further News Articles to Read Related to the Quiz Topics
This is really cool, since the active engagement I just participated in by taking the quiz is sure to pique my curiosity, at the end of the quiz I can then click on links to read more news stories from the same month the quiz was published in.

Columbia Keeps an Archive of All News Quizzes
Since 2021, Columbia has published at least 40 news quizzes, some are monthly news quizzes, others cover special topics. All of their quizzes are so well thought-through and ask great questions in just the right amount of difficulty to get you thinking and engaged with the news. Thank you to Columbia University for supporting Interact by using our quizzes, they are brilliantly done.
