Quizzes are a great way to engage prospective and current students in higher education. Take a look at some excellent examples from institutions who have created great quiz content.
Purdue: Find your fit – Quiz
This quiz helps students find their unique place at Purdue, answering a pertinent question for potential students of “How will I fit in?”
I especially like the use of situational questions to help students really imagine what it would be like to be at Purdue and give them scenarios they can choose from.
At the end you see your fit, in the form of a personality outcome that’s mapped to Majors at Purdue. Great use of transition from personality to majors that would make sense. I also like they that recommend majors from different areas so as to provide potential students with a variety of options that could make sense for them.
UCSD: Which Competency are You?
This quiz starts off with a question about which competency maps back to you as an individual, a very cool way of approaching the subject.
The questions ask about a variety of personal and professional interests and preferences. It’s a great way to get a sense of who someone is and how they operate.
At the end you see a breakdown of your top results with buttons you can click to learn more about each of your top outcomes.
Under more details you can see a description of each one and more details about how it relates back to UCSD majors you can choose.
Hanover College: Major finder quiz
A classic higher education quiz, the major finder helps potential students discover which major best fits their lifestyle and personality strengths.
Questions include asking about what would motivate you to get up before 8am, which is a stroke of genius and a question that really gets at the heart of motivation.
The results give you a breakdown of the top majors that match your interests and strengths.
University of Alaska at Anchorage: What kind of engineer are you?
The quiz asks unique and deep questions like what you liked to do as a kid as it pertains to engineering. Very innovative way of getting at the core of what someone likes.
Then you get a ranking of your top engineering majors by percentage alignment with your answers.
And you can click through to see more details about each one, and go from there to an info page about the major on the University website.
Columbia University: LGBTQ+ History Quiz
Very well done example of a trivia style quiz to ask questions about important elements of history related to Columbia University.
Questions span a range of topics related to the history of LGBTQ+ at Columbia and include imagery to represent the questions.
Each question has a correct answer and after you choose each option you are shown an explanation about why the correct answer is the right one.
At the end you get a readout of all the questions with your answers and the correct answers along with links to learn more about the topic.
