Take Quiz

How often do you find yourself bloated?

Whenever I eat certain foods – usually junk food or caffeinated drinks.

Usually the days leading up to or the first day of my period.

I think it’s a menopause thing.

After I eat just about anything. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong!

When I feel like I have to go to the bathroom, but I can’t. There’s just this tight feeling in my stomach.

1 / 7

What’s your meal plan like?

I mean, not great. I try to eat healthy but it’s usually easier to eat out or buy cheap food.

It’s alright. I eat healthy, homemade meals often and don’t mess around much.

I eat all kinds of foods. I’ve been trying to find things that don’t make me bloated or mess up my gut.

I tend to eat the same thing every day for weeks (at least it seems that way!)

2 / 7

And… how often do you find yourself constipated?

Whenever I eat something I’m not used to, I get clogged up!

Often enough to be annoying, but not so often I can pinpoint the cause.

Whenever I eat anything other than the foods I know for sure won’t upset my stomach. It just won’t digest!

Often. It’s like every other week, something isn’t working!

3 / 7

Do you have any food allergies?

Yes. Do you want the list?!

Nope!

Not that I know of.

4 / 7

How often do you eat foods that you know you’re allergic/sensitive to?

Too often! I can’t seem to stay away from them even though my body doesn’t like them. Dairy products are just too good.

Almost never! It’s just not worth it.

I’m not sure I have any allergies or if I do they’re pretty mild. If something makes me feel bad I just stop eating it - no problem!

Never! I can’t even be near what I’m allergic to. I’d rather not see the inside of a hospital for a long while!

5 / 7

Do you take any supplements?

Nah.

I take vitamins daily.

I’ve tried all kinds of supplements. I find the fiber ones work the best.

I feel gross and bloated a lot of the time.

My stomach and bloatedness is constantly fluctuating. It’s getting kind of frustrating!

I think something’s wrong with my gut. But I’m not sure what to eat to make it feel better.

Truthfully, I usually feel a bit plugged up, and the bloating is annoying!

You’re a Dietary Bloater!

Hey there, friend!

You may be known as the friend with the “stomach of steel,” but something’s been getting to you.

Whether it’s trying a new diet in the name of health, or going the opposite and letting your diet slip into the unhealthy realm, your diet is likely the cause of your bloat.

Even healthy foods such as beans, lentils, broccoli, wheat, or dairy can cause bloating.

So can consuming a lot of fizzy and/or alcoholic drinks, sodium, sugar, or overly processed foods.

Or, in the case of fast food, might be from excess sodium or grease you can’t absorb properly.

Some foods just produce more gas than others.

So, how can you fix it?

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

– Hippocrates

(Temporarily) reverse whatever diet change you may have made. Yes, your new eating habits may be “healthier,” but it could be what’s causing your bloating. Revert to your old eating habits. Slowly start to reintroduce the foods. Give your gut time to get used to it.

Increase your fiber intake. Bloating paired with constant trips to the bathroom? You may need more fiber in your diet. The easiest way? Simply eat more fruits and whole grains. Try upping your fiber every day for a couple weeks. You could see results in just a few days!

Drink more water. Dehydration can cause bloating, headaches, fatigue, and constipation (which can lead to more bloating!) Drink a minimum of four to six cups of water daily to help you get back on track.

You’re a Hormonal Bloater!

Hey there, friend!

Bloating, unfortunately, is a common symptom of being on your period, or dependent on you age, of perimenopause or menopause itself.

You may be known as the friend with the “stomach of steel,” but something’s been getting to you.

What exactly is bloating?

Bloating is a buildup of excess gas in your stomach and/or intestinal tract. This causes swelling and abdominal discomfort.

As the hormone levels in your body change, it can lead to water retention and bloating. This is uncomfortable, but can be managed.

What can you do to make the hormonal bloat more bearable?

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

– Hippocrates

(Temporarily) reverse whatever diet change you may have made. Yes, your new eating habits may be “healthier,” but it could be what’s causing your bloating. Revert to your old eating habits. Slowly start to reintroduce the foods. Give your gut time to get used to it.
